This was a pretty dark book. Jorg is nuts. There's a point where I can understand loss and pain making someone crazy, but I think Jorg's losses were not so much a catalyst as an excuse. He is very much separated from his emotions, which generally would make me feel distant from him. But oddly, no, although shock was my main emotion throughout this book, I still liked Jorg. I felt somewhat distanced from the story, which did detract from my enjoyment of the book, but I still liked it. I think the focus on him being emotionless may have gone a little too far, because toward the end, I felt like the author was focusing more on that than on the story. This is because the way Jorg gets out of a lot of situations is explained away by "luck." While it's nice that he's not some super-protagonist, luck should really only take you so far.
