Don't take my 4 star rating of this book deter you from reading it. I had a really hard time deciding whether or not to give it a 5 star rating. Ultimately, I did decide to give it 4 stars but for personal reasons, and what I think a book should offer.

And now onto the review!

I loved this book! After receiving the ARC for Robopocalypse and devouring it, I was absolutely thrilled to get the ARC of Amped! In fact, I started it only 3 hours ago! I blew through this novel like a true "amp". It's a short book with a lot of impact, a quick yet satisfying read. Three parts Sci-Fi, one part Romance, Amped tells the story of Owen Gray, a man with a neural implant to combat his epilepsy, or so he thinks...

You really have to congratulate Wilson for giving us this book; a book that has the potential to really bore you with medical and technological fact and processes yet dials it back to give way to a story that conveys real issues of racism, bigotry, and discrimination, all while tying in a quaint love story mixed in a science fiction/action novel.

I appreciated, something I also enjoyed in Robopocalypse, having "real" news articles in between chapters instead of giving long, drawn out explanations as to what is going on in the novels universe outside of the characters point of view. Having articles and stories from CNN, the Washington Post, and the Associated Press gave you the feeling like this really could happen.

With a lovely blend of plot twists, romance and action packed science fiction, Daniel H. Wilson's Amped is surely a novel you won't be able to put down.
