This was a pretty fast read and it was mildly entertaining. The chapters stayed on topic, but the organization within the chapters seemed pretty random. For instance in the chapter on the death of a mistress, it seemed like Mistress A of France died. Then the king took Mistress B. Then Mistress C of France died. Then suddenly we were watching Mistress A of France wander around court before taking to her deathbed (again). It also seemed like the book concentrated mainly on the Mistresses of French kings, with honorable mentions for England and cameo appearances by the rest of Europe.
