This was an excellent book about avoiding moralism in parenting by pointing our children (and ourselves) continually to our need for God's grace. If I had read this ten years ago (impossible, since it wasn't written then!), I would have probably given a nod to its truth and gone on about my self-reliant way. Now, faced with my utter inability to make my children turn out the way I want, I embrace this book wholeheartedl!. It's not about my efforts; it's all about God and His goodness. I would recommend this to any parent. My only concern is the rather lengthy suggested dialogues regarding our children's sinful behavior (lying, backtalk, fighting with siblings, etc). The key is to internalize the main ideas and put them in your own words, hopefully in a more succinct manner. My kids would NOT have sat still long enough for me to go into such thoughtful detail!
