really liked it
Read in June, 2003

A friend just reviewed this and another added it their queue, so it reminded me of how and where I'd read this. I was laying on top of a pallet full of ammunition in Kirkuk enduring the seemingly endless wait to board a large aircraft to fly back somewhere that I could be reasonably sure would involve less heat, sand, and gunplay. I really dug this book not only because it's well-written (irony of ironies), but also because it made me wonder why the hell I'd ever stopped writing in the first place. And admittedly there are few places more appropriate to reconsider one's hobbies and profession than the top of a pallet full of ammo in hell's furnace.
