really liked it
bookshelves: social-critique

Always a compelling thriller writer, Crichton earns new respect in my eyes for his unflinching critique of the prophets of global eco-disaster. He takes great pleasure in mocking the shallow celebrity environmentalism that is so rampant among movie stars who think a box office hit somehow qualifies them as scientists and social crusaders. State of Fear is not a page-turner; however, converting this topic into a thriller was clearly a challenge. Nobody could have done it better.
