I enjoyed this book immensely - not in part because I grew up wanting to be a genetic engineer - but the smugness of some reviews really bothers me. Ms. Atwood, I'm sorry if any of your friend pooh-poohed you because you wrote a SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL. I'm sorry if the thought makes you feel dirty and caused you to qualify the book to anyone who asks. That's a personal problem. I'd feel quite honored to stand alongside Stanislaw Lem, Ursula Le Guin and Ray Bradbury.

If it quacks like a duck...

Anyhow, I did enjoy the book, I am just snippy.

Salma I'll have to give this one another try- I love Atwood, but I just couldn't get past the first 10 pages of this one.
