Devil May Cry (Dark-Hunter, #12)
by Sherrilyn Kenyon
by Sherrilyn Kenyon
4.5/5.0
This is probably my favorite in this series since Kenyon strayed from the original Dark Hunters. Both Katra and Sin are characters one can absolutely fall in love with - and undoubtably will! Both are members of the God's pantheons, both know and have lived with both the good and bad that entails. Where Katra was essentially loved and cared for, however, Sin has seen the very worst of what the Gods can do. While Sin is bent of vengeance and trusts no one, Katra's overwhelming love and compassion is his perfect foil that makes this story an almost perfect romance.
The books are getting so cluttered with back-storys from previous installments, however, that enjoying this as a stand-alone would be nearly impossible. Even for one having read the previous offerings, it is becoming confusing keeping everyone straight - and I'm only half way through the series! While I absolutely love the continuing story lines of Acheron, Simi etc., veering into the plotlines of dream hunters, ever-increasing demon races, not to mention the growing plethora of gods, semi-gods, executioner gods, banished gods (the list goes on and on) is getting a little overwhelming. I do find myself longing for the beautiful simplicity of the men that made up the original Dark Hunters.
