Old man playing out his wet dreams in between naps, which started out kind of creepy and became hilarious over the course of the book and a list of sexual escapades which read like a porn catalog.(view spoiler). I began to see it as the 65 year old version of the grouchy, alcoholic yet highly sexed hardboiled detective - with a lot of manly weeping.

Ostensibly, it's about a retired cop going after a cult leader he couldn't catch before retirement. But it is labelled a faux mystery. Essentially it's about a man wrestling with retirement and his age. I liked the nature parts with him rambling all over the countryside. Overall, it was a good laugh with enough other themes that it wasn't just soft porn. Although if I never hear "tumescent" again, it will be too soon.

On audio: Good speed and interesting dramatization. He has too deep a voice for women's voices to be halfway convincing, which sent me into spurts of laughter whenever he did the younger women (with attitude) - which added to the entertainment.
