Dot I bought this book for a friend earlier in 2011 and borrowed it back. I found it was fascinating. Hope you are enjoying it.

Katherine Govier I do like it. I'm also giving it to my tai chi teacher for Christmas.

Stephanie Tanton Really enjoyed the history of the Austian families.

Katherine Govier I am now in Vienna in 1900 in that huge house with the 18 year old bride who is in love with someone, not her husband. The book is so beautifully written. And the feeling of dread as anti-semitism grows is very strong.

Ellen Roseman He writes in the present tense and makes you feel you're there, as Katherine found. I love his eccentric family.
