Heart-breakingly comical, gut wrenching, & sweet by turns. Clever & brilliantly written. A young Jewish man by the same name as the author searches for the truth about his Holocaust-era Ukranian ancestors, guided by a Ukranian local named Alex with his own family demons (historical & modern) to deal with. Alex's "blind" grandfather (their driver) and his "deranged seeing-eye bitch" Sammy Davis, Jr., Jr. are along for the ride. Hilarity & heartbreak ensue.
