WOW! That took me almost a week to get through! That's pretty sad! Of course, I watched two seasons of Downton Abbey in that time frame as well... And I'd read the last quarter of the book again only about a month ago, so....

Anyway, I reread the ending of this book quite frequently, but I'd forgotten some of the stuff from the beginning! SO CUTE!!! LOVE this book!

This was the first Julia Quinn book I ever read (even though it's the second in the series), and it is still my favorite. I need to buy it (and the rest of the series)... I've read it like 4 or 5 times now...

The thing I LOVE about this book is that it is just SO FUNNY. Don't read it in public unless you want people to look at you like you're crazy. It's laugh-out-loud funny. The hero and heroine... OH GEEZ! They're HILARIOUS! They bicker and argue and... they learn VERY QUICKLY how to push each other's buttons. And's it's FABULOUS. OHHHH... the pall mall scene... with the Mallet of Death..... OH, I thought I was going to DIE LAUGHING! I need to go buy this book... I want to read it again!

One thing I love about Julia's writing is how she endears the characters to you. Like Anthony (Viscount Bridgerton), in this book. He's a Rake (with a capital R, as explained in the first chapter), and I probably wouldn't have liked his character very much. In fact... I KNOW I wouldn't have—I would have been rooting for Colin, even though it's obvious (from the back of the book, if nothing else) that he wasn't the intended hero. Yes, I wouldn't have liked Anthony... EXCEPT for the prologue. I LOVE Julia Quinn's prologues—she uses them SO effectively. She explains Anthony's background and his logic, which tells the reader that he has issues... so that when he turns up at the beginning of the story, you DON'T immediately hate him, because you know about his past—you know that he has this huge burden that still haunts him. So you give him a chance. After all, he may be a "Rake", but there's more to him than that. There are things about him that the heroine doesn't know—that don't play into her judgment of him.

And I LOVE Lady Whistledown. :) She's FABULOUS! Have fun trying to guess who she is! I totally guessed right!
