really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, humor, romance, adult

Major Pettigrew has been a widower for several years. When he receives the news that his brother has passed away, he is shaken. Mrs. Ali, a widow, is very supportive during the major’s grief. An unlikely friendship develops between them, despite the town’s prejudice about her Pakistani heritage. [return][return]This was just a charming novel. The major’s views on life and the people around him are highly amusing. It’s enjoyable to watch him grow and relate to the people around him. The pacing is a little slow in the beginning, but it’s well worth it.
