really liked it
bookshelves: romance, adult

Eleanor’s father is a wastrel, who has no use for her until she is old enough to marry and bring him an advantage. When he forces her to move to London, she experiences some freedom to do what she wants. She meets Mr. Weare and they start seeing each other. But her father finds out and locks her in her room until her can force her to marry someone of his choosing. Will Mr. Weare find out and rescue her or is he as bad as her father?[return][return]I had read this many years ago and decided to read it again. Unfortunately it was sillier than I remembered so I can’t really recommend it. It really would appeal more to a teen audience, since it has that dramatic life and death feel to the romance.
