Love David McPhail's animals. They have a lovely gentleness about them.

Henry Bear loves Christmas. Seriously. He loves it. He loves the lights, the carols, everything. But most of all, he loves the Christmas trees. When Henry and Stanley head out to find the perfect Christmas tree, Stanley wants to buy a scraggly little one from the students in the schoolyardm but it's not good enough for Henry. When he comes across the perfect tree being raffled off in the churchyard, Henry spends all his money on tickets. He just knows he's going to win that tree. Stanley still loves that sad, scraggly tree, though.

Yes, there is definitely some Charlie Brown's Christmas sweetness happening here, and a little bit of Tortoise and the Hare, as Henry gets too busy drinking hot chocolate, lets time get away, and misses an important moment. It's just a genuinely sweet little story, though. Kind of funny, but mostly just...nice. And that's perfect for Christmastime sharing.
