really liked it
bookshelves: historical-fiction
Read from November 29, 2011 to June 03, 2012

A darkly romanticized look at the turmoil that was Paris in the decades after France's major revolution, with a well-developed cast of colorful characters. The history is intense and heavy-handed (in the full edition) and things can get quite maudlin at times, but the overall story arch of Jean Valjean and Cosette is a must-read - even if comes to a relatively unsatisfying end, from my perspective.
