What I learned from this book was SO much! The medical model vs. the midwife model of childbirth and labor is must know knowledge for anyone who is pregnant, or loves someone who is. This is the most honest, down-to-Earth book on childbirth out there. FORGET what to expect when you're expecting, unless what you expect is to be taught that your body is a lemon that will fail you in so many various ways, that you are incapable of having vaginal birth without intervention, and that you should go through all 9 months of your pregnancy and through your entire labor scared out of your mind.
