Great yarn. One of the most riveting, compelling stories I've read in years. Inspiring and gripping. Great story about the triumph of will and some of the horrors of WWII, and compelling writing. Only defect in the book is the authors discomfort with his turn to religion upon his return --- she tells a compelling story about his drive to survive, the torture he endured and the psychology of both prisoners and captures -- and then, almost in embarrassment, brings the book to swift conclusion when he turns to God. Its as if that's too uncomfortable for foreign for polite discussion. Other than that sour note at the end, its a fantastic book.
