Crooked letter, crooked letter is a great mystery/suspense book,I don't think that is what makes it a great book. It is how well written the book is and how it delves into all types of social issues including betrayal, parent/child relationships, friendships, prejudice, deception, responsibility, and redemption. For a small book, it is packed with lots happening out front and in the background. The differences and similarities of two friends in rural Mississippi in the 70's and the descriptions of small southern town inter-relationships then and now helps make this a fantastic book that you will not want to put down.
