The main characters (a vampire turned protector and the teenage miracle girl he's determined to keep safe from zombie hordes) are lovable even when they're not particularly likable. Those two are well drawn and interesting, but the secondary characters suffer from stereotypitis (the morbidly obese geek, the slutty hooker, etc).
Plot wise, this was a fun read, but the number of times the vampire survived things he flat out stated would be the end of him became a little Road Runner-esque by the end.
That said, this book was worth reading twice just for the dialog and descriptive panache.
