** spoiler alert ** The Unseen exceeded my expectations. I don't know why I put off reading it, but I'm so glad I finally got to it. The story flips from 1911 to 2011. In 1911, Cat Morley has arrived to be maid at the rectory to the Reverend and Hester Canning. In 2011, Leah is trying to discover the identity of a long-dead soldier found with two mysterious letters. The search leads her to the old rectory, and a man named Mark Canning.

I loved the Fey element to the story, and how we never quite find out if Robin Durrant was the real deal or was just playing everyone. I cried at how close Cat came to being free, and I felt sick reading about the torture she suffered in jail.

I will most certainly be keeping this one, and probably rereading before too long.
