The Scorpions are an elite fighting force. For Kendras it’s the only family he’s known but now, terribly injured, he’s lost sight of his comrades in ferocious battles and wonders with dread if the force is lost to him.
This is the story of his search for the remaining members and his quest to rebuild the platoon and his life. Aleksandr Voinov cleverly leads the reader through an adventure of twists and turns that includes slavery, cruelty, political intrigue and the harshness of war. Yet it also highlights strength of character, comradeship and bravery – and plenty of sexual activity. Brave and loyal Kendras, grey-eyed Steel, the elusive Officer, slave-boy Selvin are just a few of the characters that populate “Scorpion” that will stay with me for a long time. Congratulations to the author for creating such depth and reality (even if it is an alternate world.
It’s been an education for me to read this.
