it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction
Read in May, 2009

At the beginning, I didn't get the buzz, but this is a fantastic book. The sense of random occurrence is the most realistic tactic that I have ever encountered for the creation of a true-to life story, despite the rampant magic realism.

message 1: by stacy (new)

stacy Abe, I read this book when it first came out. I even remember the afternoon I opened it. The sun, the heat, all that. I remember a few scenes--sitting in the well, the flaying of soldiers--vividly, viscerally, but I cannot tell you a damn thing else. My memory is the most finicky creature I know.

Abraham nice. I read it while at Yosemite.
