The King in Yellow
by Robert W. Chambers
by Robert W. Chambers
Stephen King recommended book as noted in Chapter 9 of Berkley's 1983 paperback edition of Danse Macabre.
For the most part I really enjoyed the macabre stories, not so much the "normal" ones. I liked how all the macabre ones tied in with each other a bit. The horror is very, very mild by today's standard. The Yellow Sign was definitely the best story as GR's description states. The Lovecraft introduction was short and succinct, not really very telling. Gothic horror fans should pick this one up.
