I just read "The Sallie House" by Renee Pawlish. I knew nothing about this house before undertaking the book, so I had no preconceived notions. I found the writing to be very well done. I found myself, however, wishing that there were more of the story to tell. Perhaps there wasn't. It felt a bit like a term paper which had to come in under a certain word limit.

On the other hand, what is here gave me some very serious chills. Perhaps this was due to the fact that what took place was real, or at least purported to be real - depending upon one's beliefs. As a Christian who reads horror, I truly did find myself questioning whether to actually turn off the light at night. Not since reading Jay Anson's "The Amityville Horror" have I felt that way over a book.

With the writing skills demonstrated, I look forward to checking out more from Pawlish.
