I don't generally like books of short stories, as the author doesn't usually have time to develop much of a plot or to flesh out the characters. But this was Jeffrey Archer, so I took a chance. The twelve stories were actually quite good. Reminded me of episodes of the old Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Each story was very different, but each had a surprise twist at the end. Archer limited the number of characters so the reader is able to get to know them a bit. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the book.
