This book was like a breath of fresh air. It was so different from the books I've read lately. The characters were normal human beings- had no super powers and it wasn't set in a mystical land which was so nice. So much happened in this book there was hardly a dull moment.

I really liked the 3 main characters Mel, Bran, and the Marquis. I didn't have a problem with any of them so the story always kept my attention. I also enjoyed how the story wasted no time jumping into action-as soon as Mel and Bran's father died, they were in charge. And as soon as Mel was captured the story really took off. Mel's journey escaping and evading the search parties was exciting. I also loved how I couldnt tell which side the Marquis was on. The story wraped up nicely by not leaving a cliff-hanger ending.

I haven't read a story like this all year which is why I really enjoyed this book.
