This book took me some work to get through, but it is a beautifully-told story and the newest addition to the genre of magical realism, and for those 2 reasons are worth giving it a go. The author tends to over-describe each element of each scene (when you read it you'll know what I mean) but once you get used to her writing style it's a rewarding read that pays you in the form of small tales of a time and place that exists solely in our imaginations.

Rana I've had this sitting in my kindle for ages and every time I try to start, I change my mind and find something else... Should I push through?

Lilly Not if you've already tried! Too many books, not enough time ;)
