it was amazing

I don't know how I missed out on this delightful series before now. It has several of my favorite things: strong intelligent female character, a mystery to solve, dragons, magic. Cimorene is a strong-minded, likable character, and so is her dragon friend.

One of the things that is really charming about this book is the parallels or parodies of other fairy tales. One of Cimorene's friends had the bad luck to NOT be cursed by a fairy at her christening. And Cimorene herself is constantly being told "that's not how things are done", which exasperates her.

I recommend this book for pre-teen on up, and it would make an excellent read-aloud for children old enough for a little humor but young enough to still like being read to.
