Read from December 23 to 28, 2011

I finished reading the Hoffmeyer story of the Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The story is very disjointed and the character development is not good. A lot of the story is about the Mouse King attacking the Nutcracker then Marie tries to explain to her parents. They are very dismissive of her story and her imagination, and the author portrays the parents as tyrants.

C S Lewis used the idea of another world accessible to the imagination of children and the Narnia books are much better in this style of fantasy.

Now I am looking forward to reading the second part of the book which is Alexander Dumas' telling of he Nutcracker story.
