Evil exists. I have met it, seen it, and talked to it face to face. While I have never met Manson, and have no desire to do so, I have seen what can happen when people are taken over by dark forces. I don't particularly like Bugliosi's writing style, but the story he tells is a compelling one. Manson was not just a cult leader. He persuaded the loners, the losers, and the lost souls whom he gathered together to perform horrible, grisly acts that they never would have considered if they had not surrendered to his control.
