This is a series of three interconnected stories about an Algerian rabbi, his daughter, and their cat who develops the ability to speak. In one of the stories, the cat insists that he is Jewish and therefore deserving of a bar mitzvah. In another story, the rabbi must travel to France to take a language test. I liked reading these interesting stories.
