Stephanie Klein is a fantastic writer! This is a story of her adolescence -her weight struggles, her family issues, her friends and her foes. "Typical" adoelscent strife combined with Klein's personal and unique struggles. Throughout this story, I felt a mixture of emotions but ultimately, the story felt authentic. I feel like I have a idea of who she was during this difficult time in her life. She has included some diary entries from her adolescence. She doesn't seem to hide much, which is refreshing. Klein is not afraid to discuss her adolescent sexual exploration, her father's cruelty, etc...I am now anxious to read her first book.
