it was ok
Read from November 18 to 19, 2011 , read count: once was enough

I was so disappointed in this book. David Baldacci is one of the best authors around and this one seemed like it was written by a high school senior. The story was too far-fetched to be even remotely believable. The details about the train trip showed that a lot of research was done regarding railroads and train travel, and the stories told by the railroad employees were very interesting. That would have been fine if the story kept to the original idea of Tom Langdon completing a train trip across the country because of a family connection to Mark Twain. But then it became a story about Tom and Eleanor, repeating the same things over and over. Too many characters that had nothing to do with the story, they were introduced and then they were gone. Romance stories are not your forte, Mr. Baldacci. Please stick to what you do best!

(Then, one of my pet peeves -- glaring typos -- does anyone edit books anymore? Examples: the woman knit one, pearled two instead of purled; Forth Worth instead of Fort Worth; the crown roared with appreciation, instead of crowd. Yup, someone did a spell-check, but did anyone actually read the book before publishing it?)
