I enjoyed this book by Brenda Novak, she is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. The action is fast paced and the passion is heartwarming.
Claire's mother disappeared without trace fifteen years before, her sister had a tragic accident that left her unable to walk and Claire's husband David was killed in a tragic hunting accident a year ago...could anything else possibly happen? When Claire visits her mothers studio one night she unexpectedly finds files written in Davids hand that shows he was actively looking into her mother's disappearance, taking the files and about to leave the studio, a cabin her mother used near woods, she is pushed and hurt in the fall. Hearing her scream Isaac, who lives nearby, runs to her aid, hurting himself in a fall on the way, he nevertheless manages to carry her to his place and call for the sheriff and the doctor. Isaac is of course the man Claire was in love with when she and David had a break from each other before they married and but for Isaac's inability to settle down, because of his own mother's desertion, would have been the man Claire would have stayed with.
Things start to get complicated from then on, its obvious someone doesn't want the truth to come out and is determined to stop Claire and Isaac investigating. Meanwhile their love and passion becomes unavoidable and the two of them realise that nothing has changed the attraction they still feel.
