Geraldine Brooks is a remarkable writer. However, Caleb's Crossing is not one of her best work of fiction.
The first half of the book was kind of boring and very excessive explanation of the Island and the Native Americans.
The Second half of the book when Caleb, Make Believe and Bethia went to Cambridge started to get interesting to follow.

With all that said, I still believe this book is worth reading because of the lush writing style and pose of the story that belongs to only Geraldine Brooks.

Kathy I love Geraldine Brooks, too, and have this on my to-read list. I hope I like it...
