It's not the best fiction I've ever read, but it's good. I was a little worried it would fall completely flat after all the hype.
The story has a good pace and the characters--and their interplay--are the showpiece of the book. Written with humor on a very touchy subject, Stockett entertains and educates... and has some fun too.
