Really liked it, this is the first of the Camilla Lackberg crime/mystery series. Set in a small Swedish town, Detective Patrik Hedstrom is leading the investigation of what first appears to the a suicide of a young woman found dead in her bath. Evidence however arises that shows she was actually murdered. Erica Falck, a writer who is back home after her parents death, is taken to the scene of the death, when a neighbour finds the body and Erica is shocked to see her childhood best friend dead. She has not been in close contact with Alex, the victim, for 15 years and soon becomes drawn into the mystery of her life and death. The tale unravels into a series of secrets and a shocking cover-up and Patrik, who has been in love with Erica since they were kids, are drawn together in the investigation. There is also a side story of Ericas relationship with her younger sister, Anna, who is in an abusive marriage and Ms. Lackberg constructs all the characters involved in the victims life and the police involved, into a great cast of personalities. The story was believable and realistic and Patrik and Erica are likable characters, you want to read more about and see their relationship develop. It's a great read and a good old who-dunnit. I could see where the story was leading and what had happened in Alexs life, but who killed her remained a mystery until the end. Highly recommend this writer.
