It's been a few months since the events of the first book and Sookie has just found a dead body in Andy Bellefleur's car. She is asked to look into it by going to one of the sex parties that the victim was alleged to have attended and read the minds of the participants. In the meantime, she is attacked by a strange creature and after being saved by the vampires, is asked to go to Dallas to investigate the disappearance of the Sheriff which leads to the Fellowship of the Sun....

This one definitely has more action and more things going on than the first book. It is not the best but whilst in the first book, nothing much happens in the way of Sookie solving the case in respect of her brother, with the second book, Sookie is far more active. This is the first book I ever read in the series which possibly affects my opinion of it. The solving of the sex party murder is so funny (especially with Eric's appearance) but it seems rushed and for some fans, it could be a "Do we care" moment. Otherwise, it is a good read.
