So normally I love all of these books, but this one was not one of my favorites. I can see why many readers enjoy Ivory and Razvan as a couple, and some of their interactions were sweet. It wasn't enough to save the book for me though.

What really dragged this one down is that it is extremely campy even by the standards of vampire romance novels. One part that I couldn't read with a straight face was the wolf pack that could transform into tatoos or fur coats depending on the needs of the action scenes. To me, this was the literary equivilant of the famous Three Wolf Moon tee shirt. When we dwell on the Carpathian's culture, mores and especially the redonkulous spell casting scenes that went on forever, the world building really falls apart for me. Feehan should also realize that she is not Tolkein and the poems are uniformly terrible.

However, I will probably keep buying and reading these forever or until Christine Feehan is eaten by her little hair bow dogs. Whichever one comes first.
