really liked it
Read in November, 2011

For the first couple of chapters, I really didn't think I was going to like this book. But before long, I was drawn in and couldn't put it down. I liked how the book was told in alternating present/past chapters to give you a sense not just of who Addy Shadd was, but why. My one major complaiInt, however, was that multiple characters in the book fall in love with Addy from the moment they meet her, including her husband. I thought that there was a lot about Addy that could make a man fall in love with her -- smart, determined, resilient -- but I felt like the author didn't take any time to develop the backstory of Addy's relationships. The one piece of character development that I thought was particularly well done was Sharla Cody -- I felt like throughout the story you could see how she was changing and becoming a different person because of Addy's devotion to her.
