I've read almost everything by this author and I love her a lot, but I do not recall her 1880s girls ever saying, "Hey, you guys," before. Or "I need to get my stuff." Really, copy editor? Really? The whole book read a little too modern like this, and for being such an awesome guy, why didn't Lorenzo ever call the Mean Girl out for the things she said to Ruby? He heard and ignored it? That's not very hero-like. All of the conflicts set up (class, mother, Mean Girl) ultimately meant nothing and nothing came of them. Bewildering. The snow descriptions were lovely, though.
