This was the first strong four stars book for in this series. Had it not been for some things in the end, would even have considered it a solid 4.5 stars.

I liked the plot in this one - it kept me guessing, and it felt more thoroughly thought out than some of the earlier ones. And having less actual romance-y stuff helped, too. And I think I got to 64% of the book this time before the first dreaded instance of "boy" popped up! (Unfortunately it reared its boyishly annoying head quite a few times after that. Ah well.)

And I really do think Neill's grown a lot stronger as a writer compared to the first book in this series. The first one was excruciatingly awful to read at times; this one was just fine.
