The son of a bitch blew up my laptop.

Obsidian was a really nice surprise. I don't read a lot of YA, and when I do, I have to really, really be interested in the storyline. What drew me to this book was the whole alien element. It was so different and so fresh because of the way it was executed. Jennifer Armentrout has mad writing skills--I mean, MAD writing skills. Everything was so vivid. You could feel and see everything so clearly, in every single scene. The concept was unique, the plot was fast paced, and the chemistry between the two main characters is absolutely sizzling. Daemon Black is definite book boyfriend material and Katy is a feisty book blogger (readers and writers everywhere can appreciate this one ;) )that doesn't put up with Daemon's mood swings. She stands her ground, is loyal, and genuinely cares for her new not-so-normal neighbor friends. The characters and their motivations totally sucked me in from page one and I couldn't put the book down.

This is an excellent beginning to a new series, and it's a nice break from all of the fairies, vampires, and werewolf YA stuff floating around out there. If you want a fun sci-fi/fantasy romance read, I highly recommend this one.

Can't wait for book two...
