Scaredy Squirrel is just that: scared.

He has OCD, a home he doesn’t want to leave, and a plan–that he intends to stick to! After realizing that life in his nut tree may not be as exciting as he had hoped, Scaredy Squirrel makes a plan to leave the nut tree. Unfortunately nothing goes according to plan, but Scaredy discovers that it’s not so scary after all!

This is a great book for children and adults alike. I laughed while reading it because Watt (who is both the author and the illustrator for this book) puts in great little bits that are too funny not to laugh at: Scaredy’s emergency kit, exit plan, and daily routine. The illustrations are colourful, outrageous, and unique. They add so much to the story, too.

Scaredy Squirrel kids to face their fears, even if they are a little scared (or a lot scared, like Scaredy). You may just be surprised at what happens–but just be sure to wash your hands before reading!
