Meet the Assorted Zebras: Jason, Erin, Dred, and Mitch. Jason Becker is an average teenager who just wants to jam with his band, have his feelings for Erin reciprocated, and have his parents understand him. Jason finds out that his life isn’t that average when he chases a thieving goblin into another world. Jason steals some magical instruments from a fairy band. Almost overnight Jason and his friends are in an awesome rock band with an instant fan base. Jason and his band may not be ready for all the attention, especially when the fairies and other magical creatures are set on getting the instruments back.
I really like J.L. Bryan’s writing style. He doesn’t leave any questions unanswered because his stories are rich with detail. His characters are well developed and feel like real people not just characters on a page. This book is the first in a series so a lot of ground work is laid. The characters are solid and the story line is set. With the action at the end of the story one can only imagine what is in store for book two. I for one am looking forward to Fairy Blues (Songs of Magic, #2). If you’re looking for a fun, light, quality read then this is your best choice. Fairy Metal Thunder is sure to please.
