Don Piper, a minister, had just attended the Baptist General Convention of Texas, a statewide conference, when on his way home he was involved in a horrific car accident. A semi truck had swerved into his lane creating a head on collision that would change his life forever. Emergency personnel declared that Piper had died immediately and his lifeless body remained inside of his crushed car. While a fellow minister prayed over him even though there was no hope for Piper. Piper was dead for 90 minutes until he awoke and returned to earth where he would undergo 34 operations due to his horrible injuries. Don Piper describes his glorious time in heaven and his hardships during recovery on Earth. Piper taught me how to give reader’s hope. Hope that there is a life after death and that people are capable of anything, even returning from the dead. “The second thing I was aware of was that someone clutched my hand. It was a strong, powerful touch and the first physical sensation I experienced with my return to earthly life,” said Piper remembering how he felt when he came back to life.
