James Patterson has yet another Alex Cross novel, KILL ALEX CROSS, and this time Cross is embroiled in terrorists attacking Washington DC and the president's children being kidnapped. I actually enjoyed this novel quite a bit. Patterson screws up a lot of books with the coauthor thing he has going, but his Cross books are usually pretty good. The plot isn't so focused on Cross, but instead on the quest to catch a pair of terrorists, a couple named Tariq and Hala, who have plans to strike a major blow in the nation's capitol.

In fact, Patterson really has nothing to do with the terrorists, but is instead involved in trying to find Zoe and Ethan Coyle, the President's two children who were kidnapped from an elite private school. Washington DC is in a panic as the terrorists repeatedly strike and the President is afraid he may never see his kids again.

Why this book is really good: It seems like Patterson has covered every subject in the billions of books he's written except Islamic terrorism, and he does it really well in this book. I always enjoy novels that present a well rounded point of view from the villians. Cross, meanwhile, is on the outside of the investigation. A friend gets him involved and he begins to look into who kidnapped the president's children. Was it terrorists or something unrelated?

Let's be honest, this novel isn't the best thing ever, but it is entertaining and fast paced. Also, Cross's family isn't involved as much, which to me is a plus. In spite of some of the garbage Patterson churns out, the Cross novels are still something to look forward to.
