As soon as I started reading this book I felt like I was reading a J.D. Robb In Death book. In fact the beginning of it really made me think of the short book, Midnight In Death. There is a very similar theme going on. As I kept reading I kept feeling like I was reading what law enforcement was like just before the time period in the In Death books. However, so you don't think it's a rip off, the missing persons in this book follow a completely different theme from Midnight. There is good smush like between Eve and Roarke if you are a fan of that. One of the reviews I read mentioned this: "More high-tech serial-killer tracking than romance, but with enough romance to placate those who like it."
