I was really looking forward to reading this, but about 300 pages into it, I was convinced that Stephanie Meyer must be getting paid to write by the page. At over 600 pages, this is a long and drawn out story (when it doesn't really need to be). I would have been very happy with a mere 300 or 400 pager. The last half of the book did pick up steam and certainly got more interesting. She developed an engaging love triangle (as we all know she is known to do) and the idea of aliens using human bodies as hosts was intriguing (I love a good parasite story now and then!), but overall I was left a little disappointed with it.

Cathy I sort of agree. I'm at about 341 pages, and I'm wondering what more can happen. I'm sure there will be something with Jared and Ian... I was up until 2 am reading it last night, which is impressive since I like my sleep. However I think some abbreviations would have been useful. At 619 pages, I know I'll still have to finish it, considering that it made me cry a couple of times (yes I am a big baby!) but I'll be hard put to give it a five star rating because its so drawn out. Still I really like it so far!
